Chief Master Mihalek joined ATA in 1988 at the age of 7 in Minot, ND. He moved to Grand Forks in 2001 for college and opened the school under the ownership of Wayne Materi on September 1st, 2002. After running the school for 9 years Senior Master Mihalek took over as owner in 2011. In that same year he earned the title of Master and 8 years later earned the title of Senior Master. In July of 2025, during ATA’s World Conference & Championships he was dubbed Chief Master Instructor by the presiding Grand Master!
Mrs. Shayna Mihalek 5th Degree Black Belt
Mrs. Mihalek joined ATA in 2009 at the age of 9 in Casselton, ND (her hometown). Throughout her training, she has competed in countless tournaments and earned various state and district champ titles. After being a student in Casselton for 7 years, she had the opportunity to take over that very club from her sister in 2021 while also helping part-time at the Grand Forks school. In 2022, the club unfortunately closed due to her moving up here to be more involved in this school. Since 2022, she has been one of the main instructors in Grand Forks and loves it!
In October of 2025, Mrs. Mihalek tested for her 5th degree black belt!
